Luxembourg seller checklist
Documents to sell a car in Luxembourg
A clear file reassures the buyer, helps garages reply faster and avoids friction when it is time to close the sale.
Before looking for a buyer
Prepare the information that proves the vehicle identity and its real condition. It makes the valuation more defensible.
- Registration certificate
- Current mileage and VIN if available
- Latest roadworthiness check or SNCT proof
- Service book, invoices and recent repairs
- Clear photos of the exterior, interior and odometer
At the point of sale
The sale contract or invoice should identify the parties, vehicle, price and mileage at the time of the transaction.
- Sale contract signed by seller and buyer
- Identity copy or identity reference where relevant
- Payment proof or bank trail
- Date and time of key handover
After the sale
For a Luxembourg-registered vehicle, the sale triggers an SNCA step. Plan it before handing over the file.
Quick checklist
- Photos ready
- Service history readable
- Contract or invoice prepared
- Buyer details confirmed
- SNCA step planned
